Phocean city, Dolphins versus Egyptians, where are we anyway?
Marseille, France, June 23-24, 2007
For its third edition, the friendly organizers of the Coupe des Calanques put on a team competition. William Winram and Nicolas Guerry (Switzerland), decided to pair for that one, naming themselves "Les Dauphins", in honour of the club where they train. Leading after the first day of competition and Constant Weight, despite very windy conditions, the wind truly turned on them the next day in the pool disciplines.
They fell back to the 9th place after static yielding their first place to a team named The Egyptians, composed of Christian Maldamé and Cyril Paulet of France. In order to come back and make the podium, William and Nicolas would have to pull out all the stops in dynamic. And so they did.
Posting personal bests, Nicolas with 165 meters and William with 185 meters (a new pan-American record) they climbed back onto the podium in second place overall. The Egyptians will have to defend their throne next year. |
